I'm a musician myself, but I do all my recording, mixing and tweaking on computer now. I find it far easier than having shedloads of outboard equipment.

I've been accumalating the gear over the last ten years, and was a pro' musician in the 70/80's (mainly bass) - just that after a nasty parachute accident because I couldn't play anything for several years I then turned my back on music (in all forms) and it was only when I met my wife ten years ago and later started a family that I started to return to my roots. The main problem in the past has been funds and time - the funds are just about sorted now we've paid off the mortgage - just got to get organised so I can fit in all of the practice etc that I want to do plus all of the usual family stuff, especially with four kids!

The small amounts of time I've had on the Akai so far have been great - I was more used to the good old 24 track tape decks and monster mixers and in the mid 90's a 4 track and later an 8 track cassette portastudio- but this little beast will do plenty of what I want plus a shed load more, just looking forward now to getting my first decent tracks laid.

Thanks for the comments and hopefully you'll keep reading the blog.

regards

In my experience it takes quite a while to learn how to get the best out of equipment and that problem is multiplied when you get several pieces at once as you have done. Isn't it great fun though!
It sounds like you have all the right instruments to put together some interesting recordings. Do you have a means of recording and mixing yourself?
